Located in the Marina/Cow Hollow neighborhood, Cedar Hill Kitchen and Smokehouse serves Southern-style cuisine and BBQ artfully handcrafted from only the freshest local, seasonal ingredients. Executive chef and co-owner Jon Rietz founded our restaurant with his partner Emily Lai in honor of his southern roots and named it after Cedar Hill Ranch, his family's Texas Farm.
We choose locally sourced meats and seafoods and smoke them in house for real Southern flavor. We make our sauces, pickles, cornbread, and grits in our restaurant, because that's the only way to get home-cooked taste. We specialize in perfecting Southern classics: our fried chicken is brined in sweet tea soaked in buttermilk, and Sriracha and honey give our charred collard greens a delicious kick. Visit us for brunch, lunch, or dinner for authentic Southern cuisine and BBQ you won't find anywhere else in the Bay area.
The chili here is the best in the city. The shrimp and grits take me back to college in Alabama. The atmosphere is great-- clean, casual, and relaxed, with a tv to watch the games. This place is worth a visit just for the pie. The peanut butter pie is amazing; I'm getting hungry just thinking about it. -- Jacob J.
This restaurant is known for BBQ but I love coming here for weekend brunch. I am a sucker for a tender, flaky biscuit, and the ones here are just perfect. The jalapeno cheese grits are a spicy and flavorful way to start the day. Add the extra house-smoked bacon-- it's so good, you're sure to want more. -- Tyler P.
Fried chicken, brisket, and gumbo, all made perfectly moist and tender with classic Southern flavor. The sauces on the table were tangy and delicious. Cedar Hill is a favorite of mine, and will be one of yours too. -- John L.
